The Great British Woodshop, West Byfleet with David Free
At the Great British Woodshop, students of all abilities are given a warm welcome at our large and fully tooled workshop in West Byfleet, Surrey.
Courses are run by woodworking craftsmen and ex-television presenter David Free. DRB Certified, David has been practising woodwork and DIY for over 40 years and has been teaching for 20 of those.
David is passionate about sharing his woodwork and DIY knowledge with others.
At the Great British Woodshop we have a whole range of courses for adults, children and teenagers starting from just £15. If you have a particular project in mind, we can offer private lessons where you can plan and build a piece of furniture.
We are still running our DIY, Upcycling and Woodwork classes in the run up to Christmas – our ultimate power tool class, Beginner’s DIY class, Laying Laminate Flooring short course (£25), Spray painting, Electrical classes (£30), Plasterboard and Finishing (£25), Tiling (£25), Woodwork taster classes, upcycling and upholstery classes.
Our children’s classes have proved popular with our Parent and Child Hedgehog House and sledge classes sold out. We are delighted at our prototype Hedgehog house and a percentage of ticket sales will go towards Shepperton Hedgehog Sanctuary.
We have added 2 extra sessions:
Saturday 21 st December 10am-1pm, Parent and child session, make a Hedgehog House, age 7+
Monday 23 rd December 2-5pm, Parent and child session, make a sledge to take away, age 7+
We also have a class to make your own Christmas tree shelves on Saturday 14 th December for age 7+
For the adults we have a variety of woodwork classes including making a pet bed for your cat or dog, make a personalised Christmas eve box (2 designs available), make a personalised Christmas eve crate, shape a Christmas tree from a pallet, make a set of rustic candle holders and more! We also have limited availability for children’s parties.
We run half-term and holiday classes for children as well as the occasional weekend class.
